It All Comes Down to This

I am officially done with finals and my undergraduate career at FSU! It's a bittersweet feeling. All that's left is the graduation ceremony tomorrow.. which should be interesting. I'm not the best at hiding tears when I feel like I need to cry, haha.

Waiting to hear back from a few schools that haven't had deadlines pass and figure out my life!

But anyway for today just a short post about how I'm done :)

After tomorrow, I'll be on to the next chapter! Hope everyone's finals week hasn't been too terrible and hopefully you're done already!

Finally Finals Time

And by finally I mean, can't they finally be over??

Motivation is really lost at this point when it comes to studying. We're all in summer mode and just over classes. Not to mention, Royal Wedding Week has taken over my t.v. and is basically my new weekly obsession. Can't wait to rock my Friday final while wearing a tiara in honor of Kate Middleton. It's going to be amazing!

Good luck to everyone on Finals!!

How Old Are You Again?

It always drives me crazy when people don't act their age. It's not that hard guys. We're all in college and grown ups. We should be able to know when to be serious, know when to keep something to ourselves, know when to let go of dumb shit, and know when to respect someone who's talking.

Some people neeeeeed to learn respect and although not all people deserve it, a lot of people do. So they should be given it :)

I just really wish people would grow up. There are bigger issues going on in the world than you think. Don't let something petty get to you.

End of the Semester

I don't know about you all, but the end of this semester has hit me hard with tons of work!

Luckily the end is so near (10 days!!) and the summer shall be filled with way less stress (hopefully) and lots of fun with good friends.

Congrats to the graduating seniors! Good luck and be successful in all that you do. We'll miss you (Some we're sad to see leave, others can't leave soon enough lol, if you're thinking of a name that starts with an M then you're on the right page hahaha)

Good luck with finals everyone and have a safe summer

Emotional Rollercoaster

There are 18 days left until graduation, which is exciting and scary at the same time. Yesterday's end to chapter was moving. Hearing everyone talk specifically to people or generally to a group of people telling them how they've changed them or have made their experience in APO better/different was amazing. People I never thought would say something so serious, did. People who usually don't show emotions, did. It was great.

Although it was great to see and hear, it was crazily sad also. 2 years ago I pledged this fraternity and 2 years later, basically all of my friends are in it. I bitch about a lot of things aphio but without it, I wouldn't be the person I am and I wouldn't have had the college experience that I did.

Awards is going to be an interesting, emotional night but I'm excited. I can't wait for DOA and for the end of an amazing time :)

4 more days until a mini-vacation with Meghan, Kara, Mallory, and Kelsey in PCB! I cannot freaking wait. I know it's only 10 AM on Monday but Friday, where are you?!

Change Requires Effort

The thing about people is that they bitch a lot and want change but when they're given the opportunity to voice their opinions in a way that may actually bring about change, they don't show up to use their voice.

I feel like if you really want something to change, you have to make more of an effort to make sure it does. Just complaining about it won't get the job done.

"A lot of people are afraid to say what they want and that's why they don't get what they want."

Friends

It's so unbelievably nice and reassuring to have such a positive support system surrounding you during the times the seem to be so overwhelming. Lately I've been surrounded by all my truest and best friends ever and it's made such a difference in how I feel. Seeing friends who you haven't seen in a while sometimes can be a little weird, but when you're really good friends that time apart feels like nothing. It's nice to have a change in pace and be around people who you've lost touch with. It's also nice to know that just because you're out of sight, doesn't necessarily mean you're out of mind.

Throughout the years you'll have friends who come and go, friends who will surprise you (and not in a good way) and have friends who just make life fun, carefree, and happy. I've been blessed to have a handful of amazingly beautiful friends (inside and out)! Quality definitely trumps quantity in this department, if you ask me.

I love you all and can't wait to have more fun times. (And yes, I mean this summer and once school is finally out!)

Finally 21!

I've literally been counting down for my 21st birthday since Summer 2010, and now it's FINALLY come and gone!

My birthday started off with a few of my favorite people (Frankie and Catherine). We went at midnight to buy champagne to celebrate and ending up taking a nasty shot of 99 watermellon. I don't know why this man thought that would be a great way to ring in my birthday but oh well, fun experience nonetheless.

Then I went to lunch with Jessica and got drinks. We decided to pass on margaritas since we aren't fans of tequila and got something else, and it was amazing! (I wish I remember what it was called lol)

After my LSAT class I went to Proof for drinks with Sara which was a really nice way to end the day. Proof is super nice and chill. It's definitely a place worth checking out.

Thursday was so much fun! Going to Bulls was one of the best nights ever! I'm definitely going to invest in a moose card.  Having my amazing friends and amazing sign (which was completed with the exception of going behind the bar) made the night one that I will never forget. I'm really happy I didn't blackout and am able to remember all the fun I had. Michele, Debbie, Frankie, Kathryn, Lampi, George, Colin, Jessica, Chrissy, Matt and Sara, you all are awesome! The night wasn't the same without Shayla though. But don't you worry Shayla, as soon as you're 21 you're coming!!!! <3

Kathryn, I'm so happy you're my twin seester! I'm also so happy to have finally seen you tipsy! You were the cutest funniest gurl there! Pumpkin picture NEEDS to be your profile pic hahahaha :)

A special thanks to Catherine and Frankie. They were awesome and made my big day so special. There's nothing like a good birthday celebration to bring good friends even closer.

Can't wait to see what the year of 21 will bring!

THE BIG TWO-ONE

Happy Birthdayyyy, Amelia && Kathryn!

I know it's a few hours away but I'm just gunna be early with this post :))

You guys are getting so old! ;) Yay for another year; the world and everyone in it is so lucky that you're celebrating another! I'm so excited to welcome you to the 21+ club! Helloooo bartender!

I hope both of you have amazing days tomorrow and none of your teachers try anything crazy in class.. like making you work hard or giving a quiz. That also goes for your LSAT instructor, Amelia.

I expect full on celebrations for becoming a part of the legal club!

Love you both tons and tons!

Trundle for life!

Exciting

Today Rihanna announced the addition of J.Cole to her tour this summer! I'm so excited and definitely going to take a trip to Sunrise or ATL to see them.

Spring football practice started today and clearly that means is football season is slowly getting closer :) Okay, I know it's months and months away, but I'm excited. I won't be here for the spring game... which is sad BUT I will be in PCB soakin up the sun and drinkin' the weekend away in 17 days!

One month from today I will be DONE with my undergrad days in college. My mentality has changed and I cannot wait to be done. All that stands in my way is 1 speech, 1 paper, and 4 tests.

Counting down.... can't wait for a summer without schoolwork!

I hope everyone enjoys their last month of this school year! I know I'm making the most of it.

FEMME FATALE

Britney's new album is finally here!!!

The new dance album has once again shown it really is Britney, bitch! All the songs are so amazing and have that classic Britney flavor. She's such an amazingly beautiful betch!!!!!

Some of my favorites:
* Till the World Ends
* Inside Out
* Don't Keep Me Waiting
* Seal it with a Kiss
* Selfish
* Gasoline
*I Wanna Go

If Adele and Britney had a tour together it would literally make my year! Ahhhhhh so much talent

Everyone, listen to the new album.. OR ELSE!

Schools Out for the Summer...

Ok, so maybe it's not out yet.. but it will be in 31 DAYS!

I don't know about the rest of you, but I CANNOT wait for the semester to be over. I'm definitely feeling the out with the old and in with the new mentality when it comes to this semester.

Fall '11 is going to be amazing, I can already tell. But, summer is definitely going to be a much needed break from the usual crap that is the school year.

Hope you're all as excited as I am!

XOXO, A

P.S. anyone been gearing up those bikini bods??? Lol

It's Always Nice to Know You're not Alone

This week starts the final countdown until Relay for Life here at FSU. As most of my friends know, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was in the seventh grade. She fought and beat the breast cancer and then later was diagnosed with a skin cancer. Thankfully, she also fought and beat that. My mother is one of the strongest people I know and I hope that if I were to ever be faced with something as serious and life-threatening as she was, I would be able to be as strong as she has been and continues to be.

Today during chapter, it was inspiring to hear and see how many people have been faced with similar situations I have been faced with. It is touching to know there are other people close to you who have been through similar battles. Everyone says that cancer affects everybody somehow but I don't know how many people realize how true that statement is. Think about it... even if your life hasn't been directly changed by someone close to you having it, chances are your best friend or your boyfriend or girlfriend or your roommate or your good friend was. Know the facts. Know that cancer is a sensitive subject that everyone should be aware of. Understand that it's random and happens to all kinds of people of every race, in every city, state, and country, to people of every social class. Cancer knows no boundaries. Anyone can have it and it can change anyone's life in an instant.

If you're someone at Florida State reading this, I hope that you'll wear purple this week to show your support for those donating and putting in time to funding any research and ultimately a cure, to show your support for those who have lost someone, for those who are honoring someone, and to honor someone yourself - someone who may be fighting the battle now, someone who may have survived their fight, or someone who may have lost their battle.

If you're not at Florida State reading this, I hope you will make an effort to become more aware about the facts of cancer and help spread awareness about this life-altering disease.

To donate please visit this website: Relay at FSU
And if you want to donate personally to me: Donate to Erika

We all Relay for our own reasons. Mine is my mom.

Stress

Why can't the things you want in life the most be easy? I'm so sick and tired of people saying, "the harder something is the more worthwhile it makes it". Please spare me the Dr. Phil words of wisdom. Busting your butt and having no life in hopes to accomplish something in the foreseeable future sucks.

It is nice to have a close group of friends who are there to support you and to bring a laugh when times get hard. To those of you who have been there, you're awesome! <3

Get In the Kitchen!

Tonight for dinner, Kathryn and I decided to make one of our favorite meals, shrimp pizza! Whenever I tell people about it, they usually look at me like I'm crazy and/or disgusting. To all the naysayers out there, I'm going to show you how amazing this pizza really is!! And if seafood isn't your thing, well then make up your own pizza and share your recipe.

Shrimp Pizza
* Start by preheating your oven at 450 degrees. If you have a pizza stone, put it in while the oven's preheating so it gets nice and hot. (If you don't have one, a cookie sheet also works)

Ingredients
* One Publix premade pizza dough (you can find it in the bakery)
* 1/2 pound of shrimp
* Spinach (or arugula if you like. If not you can skip this)
* 1/2 of a decent sized yellow onion
*  2 cloves of garlic
* Mozzarella cheese (eye ball it)
* Provolone cheese (eye ball it)

* In a sautee pan, put some olive oil and onions in at a medium high heat
* Once those become translucent, put in shrimp and chopped up garlic.
* After, put some salt, pepper, garlic powder and dried oregano

*When that's finished roll out the pizza dough.

*Put the spinach down, and then put the shrimp mixture on top

*Put as much cheese as you like and then stick it in the oven.
* Keep an eye out on it, the pizza usually cooks around 5 to 8 minutes depending on the oven

Hope you try it out! It's so yummy!

What's With All the Green?

So today was St. Patrick's day and the sea of green clothing and accessories barfed all over Tallahassee. Maybe it's because I'm not Irish, but I just don't see the point in this holiday. I don't enjoy getting pinched because I refuse to wear green, I don't enjoy seeing drunk people before noon, I don't enjoy the craziness that is DUI checkpoints because people make poor life choices and decide to drink and drive, overall I just don't enjoy this day. Teaches are suggested to give tests so students will think twice about drinking. Well, I wasn't planning on drinking anyways, and as a result I don't not appreciate unwanted tests to correct other peoples foolish behavior.

Don't get me wrong, I really do feel bad for hating on this holiday, but come on... is there really a need for an elaborate celebration? I bet if you went up and asked people randomly what this holiday is actually about that you would probably not get the right answer. People focus too much on the commercialized green beer and less on it's actual significance.

Anyways, that's enough bitching about this topic. Hope everyone who actually enjoys this holiday looked as good as they could in that hideous green and celebrated this day responsibly!

Time Change

I don't know about you all, but I love when the time changes. Most people bitch because they "lose an hour".  Personally, I don't see the big difference of going ahead one hour. It's so nice for it to be 7pm and still sunny out. Nothing screams "summer/school is almost out" like the time change.

Hope everyone is enjoying it as much as I am. Go lay out and get tan, betches!!!!

An Afternoon Rant

Hope everyone's Sunday is going well. But what would the day of rest be without a bit of my bitching???

Topic of the day: registering for classes..

Why is it that the lovely FSU thinks its okay to literally offer 12 classes for a major? That is NOT acceptable. Not only are there limited classes to choose from, but then they also have time conflicts. Making the perfect senior year schedule is starting to become annoying and a little scary. Is it so hard to ask for more classes that don't conflict?? I think not.

Hope all of you who are in the registering boat are having more luck than I am!!

XOXO, A

The Beginning of the End

After waking up and seeing a beautiful sunrise over an ocean for a couple of days straight, it's not that exciting to be back in Tally.

I had an amazing time with my girls, Kara, Kelsey, and Taraneh. The hotel we stayed at was amazing and Myrtle Beach was gorgeous. Watching the sunrise I had a few moments where I contemplated life and all it has to offer, haha, and I've decided I can't, because I don't want to, live far from the ocean.

Now that spring break is over, it's sadly time to get back to business. There's only about 6 weeks of classes left and all that means for me is graduation.

You'd think I'd be a little excited about graduating but instead, miserable is a more accurate description. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited to be done with classes for a bit but I still have no definite plan as to what's next for me. I also can't grasp the concept of leaving FSU. It's not okay that I don't know where I'll be come football season.

It's crunch time - time to keep those grades up, lose the weight I gained over break, figure out my next step in life, and have an amazing end to my senior year!

I hope everyone had an amazing break from school... such a tease. Hopefully everyone has a great end to the semester. Usually the weeks after spring break fly by.

21/Femme Fatale

I've been playing Adele and Britney on repeat lately!

Rolling in the Deep, Hold it Against Me, Set Fire to the Rain, Till the World Ends, they are just a few of  the many great songs from these talented ladies.

It's crazy to think that Adele is only 22 and has such a powerful sound filled with so much soul. And need I say anything other than it's Britney, bitch?? She's just a pop star staple.

Adele's new album has been out for about a month now, but finally it's hit number one on the charts, which is much deserved!!! Britney's album is expected to come out March 29th, and I cannot wait!

It's so nice to see such talented beautiful women dominate the charts. Keep up the good work ladies!

Spring Edition of FFUs

Spring time is not officially here until A&E break out our famous FFUs for the season!!

Spring Break is here for some and quickly approaching for others so it's very important to keep some of these fashion don'ts in mind when planning your break trips and adventures.

Ladies,

* Don't wear heels in the sand. Year after year I see this and don't understand the point of seeing women tirelessly try to tread through the sand. Heels are mean for pavement, not the sand!

* Bras and underwear do NOT equal bathing suits. Keep those for under your clothes ladies, not the main show at the beach. Yeah your underwear might look cute now, but go check out what it looks like once it gets wet. I'll give you a hint.. it's not cute.

* Thong bikinis... hmmm. Don't get me wrong, I too am a woman and love my body, but you seriously need to be confident as hell and have one amazing ass to pull this off. I'm going to leave it at that.

* Don't cake on the make up. There's nothing worse than seeing a girl at the beach melt her face off. Give your face a break and show everyone your natural beauty.

Gentlemen,

* Save some mystery for the ladies, don't feel the need to break out the speedo on the beach....

* Socks with your sandals not only makes you look like a 65 year old, it's also a great way to get a horrible tan line.

* The classic Hawaiian shirt. Unless you're actually in Hawaii, those can be left at home.

* Don't be too hairy. Yeah, I said it. Men expect women to be groomed and guess what men, same goes for you! Sure some women like a little hair (and I'm not saying to get too carried away). But nothing is nastier than a slimy hairy back laying out on the beach.

Hope everyone is staying fashionably fierce!!

Just What the Doctor Ordered!

While I've been soaking up bronchitis instead of the sun this Spring Break, it occurred to me.. Yeah, the 5 different types of medicine my doctor given me has helped me get on my way back to health, but there are some other things that have also been doing the job. FOOD! Even though this might not have been my ideal way to spend my break, I have gotten to spend time with family, friends, and eat lots of good food.

This morning, Kathryn made french toast! Two words to describe it: AMAZINGLY YUMMY! Challah bread really does make the biggest difference. There are so many ways people like to make french toast, but over at the A household, we really like making it with candied pecans. For any of you who want to be adventuresome, heres the recipe.

For the french toast bater:
* 2 eggs and 1 egg yolk
* Eyeball a nice amount of cinnamon
* Teaspoon of vanilla extract
* 3 rounded tablespoons of brown sugar
* 2 to 3 tablespoons of milk (heavy cream or half and half can also be used)
This cooks up 5 to 6 pieces of challah bread

For the candied nuts:
* 3 tablespoons of butter
* 6 tablespoons of brown sugar
* A splash of cinnamon
* When the sugar comes to a boil, add the nuts. Stir and reduce the heat
* Keep on a low heat until ready to serve

Hope you all try this out!! Let me know what ya think :)

305 Till I Die?

For those of you who know me well enough, you probably know how I have a love hate relationship with Miami. Being born and raised in Miami, I see the appeal that many have when first coming here to visit or on vacation. But living here 24/7 for 18 years shows you the good, the bad, and the extremely ugly. Don't get me wrong, I know a lot of people feel like this when it comes to their hometowns (or so I would think).

Miami might consist of beautiful people, appealing beaches, exciting night life, and much more. But when you live here you also see the horrible driving, the extremely rude people, and the humidity 24/7, just to name a few.

After spending some time with my friend Frankie (who is from Palm Bay) in Miami, I realized that while I complain constantly about being from here, I couldn't imagine growing up anywhere else.

I've had the opportunity to witness a city with so many cultures, beautiful surroundings, and most importantly live near most of my family. So while I might not rep the phrase "305 Till I Die" I will start appreciating the city that given me so much.

Safety First!

For everyone traveling anywhere for the break, be safe!

We all know how important our text messages are.. but the best thing to do (no matter how hard) is to not read them while we're going 70+ on an interstate. Please, please, please try your hardest to stay undistracted as your making your ways home or wherever you're going. It would be very unfortunate for you to read a message and then it be irrelevant because you're lying in a ditch somewhere.... blunt but let's face it, that's a possibility... or you've sent someone else into a ditch because you've lost control of the wheel.

Be safe! Drive at a reasonable speed! We all know the cops are going to be out like it's nobody's business trying to ticket as many people as they can. Also, more people die - or are injured - from car accidents than you can even imagine. Pleeeease don't let that be you!

Come back in one piece :) Enjoy the school-less, work-less (for some) week! Have a blast; get drunk, soak in the sun, buy new clothes, eat yummy food, laugh all night, see old friends, ENJOY!

Love you all.

Dear Teachers

YOU SUCK for giving three tests on pre-spring break week!

You know everyone is already getting in the spring break mentality, and for you to schedule a test is just down right RUDE.

I know it may have been a while, but you too were once a student and basked in your breaks from classes. Don't be bitter and sympathize with us... afterall you have a job because of US, so you might want to make us happy from time to time!

That's all... and with that, Good Luck to anyone with midterms!

And, for everyone traveling for break, be safe and have lots of fun!

Take A Chill Pill

I complain... a lot and I'm not going to act like I don't. But lately, I've realized a lot of people get mad over nothing. There are, in my opinion, some things that are worth complaining about and getting mad about and others that aren't. Obviously, every one is going to have their own opinion about what those things are.

In life, there are a lot more things that are out of our control than things that are.. complaining about those things you can't change really do nothing other than make you more mad and annoy the people around you.

If you have a lot to bitch about, here's an idea... write it down - that way, you're not keeping it bottled up AND you're not annoying the shit out of someone.

If you try not to let petty shit get to you, I can guarantee you'll feel better.. you won't be wasting your time mad about nothing. It'll feel so much better.

Try it.

Peace Out Girl Scout

The Girl Scouts are officially back and in cookie selling action! While I'm always excited to see these girls, I am SO ready for them to leave! I have an addiction to thin mints, and them being here is NOT helping!

Everywhere I go, they're there! Landis Green, HCB, the union, Walmart. They are unavoidable! And, I know we're not in the best of economic times, but am I the only one who thinks $3.50 for a box of cookies is ridiculous?? I know it's for a good cause and all, but 3.50 is 3.50. Not to mention, they have definitely scaled back on the numbers of cookies you get in a box.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want to seem like a heartless bitch who isn't for the Girl Scouts. I'm just a girl who has no self control when it comes to chocolate hahaha.

Please & Thank You...

They are the magic words. Aren't they?

Am I the only one who learned anything from those shows we watched as kids?

We talk all day long. Can you remember how many times a day you thank someone for something they've done for you or how many times you've said please or asked nicely when you needed a favor?

One of the most frustrating things in life is feeling as though you do things without recognition. I'm not saying we have to be recognized and praised for everything we do... but every now and then a thank you would be amazing. When a friend or teacher or co-worker or parent or sibling or stranger(!) does something nice for you or helps you out with something, make sure you're thanking them. A thank you can go a long way. You are never sure of the day that someone is having but I can guarantee you that if they are thanked for even the littlest of things they have done, that can go a long way in helping make their day that much better.

That cliche treat others how you'd want to be treated comes to mind. No one wants to feel used. No one wants to feel like they're not being thanked for what they're doing or even appreciated for it.

Please & thank are magic words. Use them. Make someone feel like you care about and appreciate what they're doing for you.

Critical Thinking...Hmmmmm

So JD and I are sitting in Phi2100 aka HELL! We have no idea what is going on and felt the need to share with our dedicated readers.

Here is an example of some of the things going on

Multiple Probabilistics Premises

P1. Most Americans are people who were born in America
P2. Most people who were born in America are white
C. Most Americans are white

Is this inductively forceful? : No

If someone understands this, please share with us...otherwise we'll have to ask the girl with the pez dispenser... and trust us, we DON'T want to ask her. She is a little cray and for some reason smells like mulch :/

Breakfast is the Best!

So after body toning it up with Jean and Taraneh, I came home and was about to make my usual breakfast: omelet with mushrooms, spinach, onions, and feta cheese. But, I decided to change it up and I'm so happy I did! I made chocolate chip banana pancakes, with some fruit on the side. I used to hate breakfast, but now it's one of my favorite meals of the day. Next week I'm hoping to make some blueberry pancakes. Mmmm! The only thing I was missing this morning was orange juice, and splenda for my coffee.

Breakfast is such an important meal of the day, so make sure you eat something!

Springtime Tallahassee

It is quite exciting how amazing the weather has been lately. Tallahassee has welcomed back the sun and it's not just for show anymore, it's actually providing some heat.. but it's just the right amount of it. The wind is blowing and I can now remember that I live in Florida. With the weather this gorgeous, being outside is amazing and it makes going to work and classes very difficult. Please tell me again why I can't just lay around outside with friends and have some fun?

After this amazing weekend it's already hard to go sit inside classes and at work but the weather doesn't help. It's only Monday and I'm already looking forward to the weekend.

Positive about today? PLL <33

Deuces

So celebrating the occasion of turning 22 proved to be amazing. I must say, I have some of the most amazing friends ever. There were a handful of people who celebrated with me Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, AND Saturday and I couldn't have imagined them not by my side as I celebrated.

Stopping for lunch and margaritas in the middle of the day at Chili's was well worth going to class slightly inebriated. I can't say class was more interesting that way because I don't think I payed much attention, lol. Instead, K.Ho and I took pictures :)

Dinner at El Patron was amazing. El Jalisco better watch out because Patron may just be my new spot. It was much less crowded and the food/ drinks were amazing.

Shout out to my littles, Rebecca, Kara, and Mallory for the amazinggg birthday presents they gave me! Anything hearts is never the wrong way to go... and same goes for jewelry and the pictures of all of us are just the cutest things I've ever seen! I love you all.

Thursday night at the strip has been one of the best places to drink and dance since I've been in Tallahassee and this weekend was no different. I had one of the best nights of my life and what I remember of it, was amazing. Going to Tomahawk afterwards to eat was maybe one of the best decisions ever made. A few of us got up and did Karaoke to Spice Girls :] bringing back the old school music.

Being a newer club, I had never been to 20/20 and was a little skeptical about how it would turn out but let me just say, I want to go back every Friday for the rest of forever. The group of people you're out with can really make or break a night and I couldn't have asked for a better bunch of friends to celebrate with me (all nights). The music was on point and so were the guys, haha (especially security ;] ). The drink specials were great and the bartenders knew what they were doing... can't really ask for much more.

The KD brothers were nice enough to host a social and invite IP to it on Saturday and that ended up being pretty fun. Chicken was fire lol and the company was good. Instead of going to Chubby's, which was the original plan, we went to a New Orleans themed party to end the celebrations. It was ok, not the best and not the worst. It was probably a good idea to give my feet a rest from heels and dancing, but I definitely could have gone to Chubby's.

Anyway, this seriously has been one of the most amazing birthday's I have ever had. Not sure which was better, 21 or 22... mostly because I don't remember enough to compare 21.. which could add to the argument for which was better haha.

I am sooo grateful to my friends who came to as much as they could/wanted to and celebrated with me. Without you guys, it would not have been what it was.

If you haven't already, relive the weekend through the many facebook pictures that have been uploaded :) They're great.

I love you all. You have nooo idea.

Lady Gaga v. Britney Spears

So I've been curious lately... what does everyone think about the new singles these two extremely talented ladies recently released?

I'm a fan of the gaga, don't get me wrong. But I wasn't impressed with her new song. I feel like she's trying to hard. Sure the message was a good one, but I don't know it seemed like as a whole, it just isn't the gaga I've listened to and loved. I'm not trying to imply that change is bad, but I don't know it just doesn't seem natural.

Britney's new song, was surprising as well. I like it for the most part, but thought it could have been a little better. The music video was interesting. I still don't if I quite get the message behind it, but that's ok too.

Is it me? am I behind on the times? What do you all think??

Valentine's Day

Whether you're dating, single, married, engaged, whatever ... we hope you had an amazing Valentine's day.

Remember, you don't need a "partner" to be happy on this commercialized day. Spending the day with anyone you love, is all today is about.

Personally, I think saving your expression of love for today is dumb. I'm a firm believer in constantly and consistently letting that special someone know how you feel for them. It means more that way. Don't get me wrong, definitely show love today... but please don't make today the only day you do something nice for that someone.

Hopefully, whether you were alone, with friends, or with your boyfriend/girlfriend, you did have an amazing day and a great start to the week!

It's gunna be a good week :) We'll be celebrating! 2 days and counting...

To All The Teachers Out There

You would think that with all the education professors, instructors, and teachers receive, they would be a tad bit understanding when it came to assignments.

For years I've battled the issue of having weeks on end with nothing to do, and then comes that one week where every teacher decides to load on assignments, tests, and quizzes. I'm sure I'm not alone in this feeling....

Another issue I have with teachers... ALL THE READING! Now don't get me wrong.. I actually do enjoy reading for most of my classes, but it's extremely difficult to stay on top of reading 100 pages a week for one class, when I have FOUR other classes to keep up in as well. Come on teachers, you know we aren't just taking your class!

I understand that being in college, along with grad school is a weeding out process, to see who is taking their studies seriously, and ultimately who has the most "dedication". But college is also is a time that is meant for independence, growth, and fun!

I'm not asking for a pass from work, but I do think that teachers should be cognizant of the work load they are putting on students.

To all the teachers out there who are probably not reading this blog, take a minute to reflect on how much your work load sucked, and help the future generation out. It's the right thing to do!

Till Death Do Us Part?

I don't know if I'm one of the only people who freakishly keeps up with pop culture, but 've noticed how so many celebrity couples get divorced!

Considering the divorce rate in the U.S. is pretty high, I guess I shouldn't be so surprised, but yet I am!
It seems like it this trend started with Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt.
A list of the ones I'm sad to see broken up:
Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson
David Arquette and Courtney Cox
Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz
Eva Longoria and Tony Parker :(

I could go on for pages, but it would take too long and would be too sad.

To end this blog on an optimistic note, I'll fill you in on the couples I NEVER want to see split:
KHLOE KARDASIAN AND LAMAR ODOM (Khlomar for life)
Kendra Wilkinson and Hank Baskett
Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck
Nicole Richie and Joel Madden
Beyonce and Jay Z

Hopefully these couples make it to the end!

Black and Yellow!!

LET'S GO STEELERS!!!!!

Usually I don't get too worked up over the Super Bowl, but this year I'm all for the Steelers.. Why might you ask??? Because I am OBSESSED with the song Black and Yellow..and what do ya know?? That's the color of the Steelers.

As for the commercials... one word.. UNDERWHELMING. Considering how expensive there are and how much coverage you get, you would think they would be a bit better. I don't know, maybe I'm expecting too much.

Half Time performance was pretty good. Fergie needed to calm her self down.

Christina Aguilera... really?? the national anthem is a pretty big deal to sing at the Super Bowl. Maybe you should have had a little quiz before to see if you remembered the words.

Princess Lea, flawless as usual.

Overall, the Super Bowl has been pretty interesting.

Down by 4 currently, but we believe in you Steelers!!!!!!!
Oh and Glee, you better rock my socks!

Stop and Smell the Roses

That old saying that older people tend to tell you when you're stressed out really makes sense. Over the past couple of weeks I've been going through a lot and I've had a lot of time to think. But taking each day as it comes and recognizing the small things in life that make me happy has made everything a whole lot easier. I may be single now and I may still not have my life figured out but I am alive. I'm alive and healthy. I have, technically, 2 places that I can call home, friends and family who love me. The small things in life that we don't even take the time to notice are what have been keeping me going.

I've always been somewhat healthy since, for a large portion of my life, my mom taught me that organic foods and products are the way to go. But lately I've been eating smaller portions, less snacks, more organic and homemade meals, and working out on the regular. When people tell you that taking care of your body can make you feel better, they're not kidding. I have felt better and I've been happy. Try it out.

The next time you're down or you're bitching about something you don't have, think about the things you do have. If it's a nice day out, go outside for a walk and look around at everything you're lucky enough to enjoy in life. This week I had a reality check when it was brought to my attention just how LUCKY I am. Remember you have running (clean) water, a roof over your head, people who love you, an education, and a chance to go further in life.

It's extremely hard to stay positive when you feel like so much is going wrong but if you're able to, "stop and smell the roses", look around you and see all that you do have.

Carrie Underwood says it best in one of her songs, So Small, "it's easy to get lost inside a problem that seems so big at the time...While you're sittin 'round thinking about what you can't change and worrying about all the wrong things, time's flyin by, moving so fast, you better make it count cause you can't get it back."

I may not have my next step in life figured out yet, but what I'm lucky enough to have is the TIME and resources to figure it out... that's a lot more than other people have & I'm thankful for that.

XOXO, E

Caution: Bad Drivers!

Today my sister and I decided to go out to Fresh Market to check out their super yummy organic selection. For those of you who don't know, it's way out on Thomasville Road. You would think that since it's far out and away from campus that drivers would be somewhat more aware of the roads... NOT THE CASE!

I don't know if it was a mixture of old people and sheer stupidity, but I swear I have no patience for any of them! One minute you have people going way below the speed limit, the next you have a crazy person going double the speed limit weaving in and out of traffic. And don't even get me started on people who drive with their arms and feet sticking out the window...

There are rules on the road for a reason!

Food For Thought...

Why is it that whenever I start up dieting, I always always always crave
1. cheeseburger
2. french fries
3. milk shake
4. red velvet cake
5. cookies
and anything else that would be considered a no no..

Yeah, yeah to all of you who say eat it in moderation.. You clearly haven't met me.
The only thing keeping me away from a donut right now is the thought of trying to become and healthier and fit person. I Used To Be Fat gave me such inspiration tonight. That guy ended up becoming a regulation hottie!!

Hopefully soon enough, I too will look as amazing as he did.. and when that day comes I'm celebrating with all the above mentioned food items!! Binge much??? Oh well!

Cover Your Cough

I thought cold season was usually around October, but maybe this dreadful season postponed itself and decided to punch January in the face instead.

I know getting sick is bound to happen, but seriously people have some manners. I'm sick and tired of feeling people's cough hit the back of my neck. I'm also sick and tired of people who can barely function going to class, sitting there miserably, oozing their illnesses to the rest of a questionably healthy class.

It's funny most students couldn't care less about skipping class or cutting corners, but as soon as their sick they feel the need to not skip class and go to "show dedication". Dedication my ass people! Keep your sick self in bed.

Until then, I will walk around with copious amounts of Purell and pray for certain inconsiderate sick people to either step up their cold etiquette or stay out of the classroom.

A Little Venting

Lets be honest, I'm not the most tolerant person in the world but I do have some patience. Today though I felt like there was a mini mountain of things that pissed me off.

- Almost got hit by a girl who CLEARLY didn't know how to drive. A beeping horn didn't mean anything to her.
- Speed bumps... is it really necessary to have 5 in a row?
- Orange&blue plastered all over clothing stores. Last time I checked, this was Tallahassee. Why do we have any combination other than Garnet&Gold? FAMU colors can make an appearance every now and then.. that I'd understand. But those other two colors? Nonsense.
- Students in class who think they know just as much, if not more, than the teacher. Quite frankly, if I'm going to listen to someone talk - I'd rather it be that teacher I'm paying to talk to me.

Maybe the fact that these things annoyed me so much at the time was due to the fact that they all seemed to happen in close proximity to each other.

Watching PLL with one of my littles, Kara, and some me time on the elliptical was all I needed to calm my nerves :)

Have a fabulous week!

Keep it Short and Sweet...

After sitting through hours worth of Chapter, something came to me. Well actually, I think this every chapter, but I'm now finally going to blog about it. When the opportunity to speak to a crowd arises and you have nothing to say, say some something short and sweet OR don't speak at all. You rambling not only sounds moronic, but it also makes those around you angry, frustrated, irritable, and many other negative adjectives. We don't care to hear about your pointless dreams that takes 10 minutes to tell, about every occurrence that has happened in your week, or if you bought a new hoody. If I cared I would ask you about it at a later date. If you want to discuss every minute of your life, blog about it. Then you don't have to subject people to your monotonous rants...those who care can read about it themselves.

Pretty Little Liars

We've seen episode after episode, and still keeping asking who the hell is A?!?? This week on PLL it seemed like A was actually on Aria's side after getting Nole Khan (ughh) out of the picture. A also made us wonder how be s/he could be when s/he showed the girls the video clip of Alison the night of her death. The question still remains though, who is A??

What are your thoughts???

Who reps the best?

Wiz Khalifa put out a hit, Black and Yellow and his own remix,  (G-mix), and now schools are making their own versions in an attempt to rep their schools to the max. So of these 3 schools which do you think did it best?

Obviously, we know which gets our vote. No bias here :)

White and Purple

Black and Gold

Gold and Garnet

FFU'S Part 2

The frigid, cold, harsh winter air has hit Floridians hard in their "sunshine" faces. Today in Tallahassee we experienced 30 degree weather at 11 and and a high of 42.

With this cold weather comes some FFUs....

*Ugg boots.. while I have no problem with Uggs I still have a hard time understanding what that huge chunk of fur is doing on the side of the boot. Is that for outside insulation or to look cute? Because quite frankly I don't think either is working out...

*Extremely large fur coats. It's one thing on the runway, but really?? How does you looking like a stuffed marshmallow look attractive?

*Knee high boots. Sure these are cute, but I'm a firm believer in wearing time appropriate clothing. Knee high boots for class? I don't know, it seems like those should be kept for a night on the town.

*Fingerless gloves. If it's cold enough to wear gloves, don't you think your fingers are the most important  part to cover? I don't know about you, but the palms of my hands don't get nearly as cold as my fingers!

Keeping this in mind, hope everyone is staying warm and looking fierce!

Go 'Noles!!!!!

One of the best parts about being in college (besides complete freedom from parents) is being able to have a sense of camaraderie with fellow classmates at sporting.

This past season has been a great one for Florida State Football. ESPN has recently said they believe that next season will bring even better things.

Tonight Florida State Basketball beat No. 1 Duke! Things are really starting to look even brighter for FSU.

We have beauty, brains, and amazing athletes, not to mention our amazing colors. Who wants to wear blue/orange, orange/green, when you can wear GARNET AND GOLD??????

I don't care what anyone says, it's great to be a Seminole aka the best school in Florida!

Congrats on tonight's win, and GO 'NOLES!!!!!!!!!!

This Week in TV

Along with it being the first week of classes, 3 of our favorite shows came back on this week! So naturally we all got together and enjoyed the winter premieres together.

On Monday, our last free-of-classes-day, ABC Family blessed us with an all-day marathon of Pretty Little Liars so that all of the slackers could catch up on missed episodes (and be converted into fans) and so all of the somewhat over-obssesed fans (us) could rewatch every episode. We spent hours together.. watching, eating, speculating who A is, and doing what we do best - talking and laughing. By the time 8 came around, we changed our minds about who A was only about 50 times. The new episode was amazing, as we expected, but of course all it raised was new speculation. Now we wait for the weekend and Monday to end in hopes that this upcoming episode will be even better. Let's be serious, we don't get our hopes up like any episode in the near future is going to reveal who A is. In this next episode though, what we do hope to see is more Ezra/Aria action (even though they are flirting with danger), more Spencer with Alex (he's pretty nice to look at), how Hanna handles the fact that she has to wear a cast with A's "sweet" little message on it, and how Emily reacts to her not-so-understanding "mother". We're anxious to see what else A has in store for the girls and excited we no longer have to countdown until it's back on air (yes, we're that serious about it)!

Greys Anatomy and Private Practice in one night has always made Thursday nights something to look forward to. Previews for the latest episodes for both shows proved they would be intense episodes, so we all gathered together yet again to enjoy them together. In their return, the doctors on Greys had to deal with a situation that hit close to home for them and could be considered a little too close to home for us college students. We won't dish too many details in case some readers haven't watched yet. We got to see a favored couple back together and another fall apart. We got to see friends reunite and friends come together to be strong. The episode of PrivatePractice reminded us that it's hard to be sure you completely know a person... there's a chance you may not, even if you're married. We felt the pain of Adison dealing with her bitch of a mother - who was going through a hard time, but still.. Mothers should give love to their daughters. Remember this when you have children. Previews for next Thursday's episodes show trouble for Arizona, news for Meredith and Derek, and a possible committment for Adison and Sam. Needless to say, we're excited.

Now that classes are about done for the week and a good handful of our shows, including these 3, are back on air we get to enjoy the weekend. First week of classes down, what are we going to do? Party, of course. Fiesta and Club style. Should be a good weekend.

Have fun, be safe, and enjoy your weekend!

Another Year, Another Semester

The beginning of January, a new year filled with optimism and hope...until Spring semester begins. It seems like nothing can hinder our spirits until that first day of classes finally comes. You get to deal with the never ending line for books (if they even have them, since the cool new trend these days is to NOT order any), anxiously awaiting for the bus that never comes, and then there is drop/add.

To me, it seems like so many universities forget about the thousands of first days of the semesters they have encountered. This is because, no matter what, like clockwork, there is always some glitch in their system and some mishap that sends students into a complete and utter melt down.

Besides having to deal with questionable people on campus there is also another unbearable species we have to deal with: DRIVERS. I would hope drivers know that when those super cool lights flash PEDESTRIAN it means PEDESTRIANS are allowed to cross. That also means you should STOP. Please don't give your attitude filled wave as to hurry those who have to walk. You are sitting comfortably in your seat with heat/AC so suck it up and wait.

Then there is a crowded gym, with hundreds of people who want to look "hot" for bikini season. Thank God their will power is as minimal as their weight loss, because within the next two weeks the gym will no longer be packed.

Besides these many irritations, hope everyone has a great first week of class!!
